Buy your own domain

Do not be afraid, buy your own domain. If you are really serious in blogging and want to make money online, just do it and do not hesitate. Domain names are just cheap so it is really a good investment. Of course there are free blog host like Blogspot, Wordpress but you won’t have the control in your blog, get the proper SEO ranking in your blog (unless you are really good in it) and fully utilize the monetization potential of your blog.

So this raises the question, what domain name would you buy or choose. Do not rush in buying domains above the normal price unless you are a risk taker. Think first of the keywords that you would like to optimize. Your domain name must also help you rank in search engines. For example, you want to optimize the word flower guide. I would personally choose flower-guide, flowerguide, the flowerguide and such. You get the picture. Choose domain names that are easy to remember and must be catchy. You wouldn’t want a name that can be easily forgotten and hard to remember, right? It would certainly turn your visitors off. Domain names with lots of dashes wouldn’t do either. Some bloggers ought to name their blog with their own name, creating their own brand.

If you are hesitant of what domain extension to use, these are the guidelines:

  • The .net / .com. – most common and recommended, designed for companies
  • .org – non profit organizations
  • .biz - business
  • .info - when your site gives information.

Where to buy Domain

You could buy your domain from sites like GoDaddy or NameCheap or some web host provider can buy the domain for you. But make sure these web host providers transfer the rights of the domain name to you.

    Hmmm…

I think you should post details of buying domain names. Just my opinions. Not many people are familiar with it, especially new bloggers.
