Case Study: Increase your blog statistics through blog contest

I promised to write a post about blog contests so here it is now. This article was supposed to teach you on how to organize blog contests from scratch. However, as I keep on writing, I realized how much having a contest made a huge impact in my blog. This article has turned into a case study covering all topics about contests starting from finding your sponsors up to contest mechanics and just about everything you need to know. It seems like covering all of these in one article is clearly not enough.

At the end of this case study, we will look on several scenarios and what mechanics, prizes is best applicable in your contest.

As a head start, this blog is a live proof on how beneficial blog contests are. I’m not a full time blogger and I didn’t spend a dime on any advertising and yet the subscriber number is 130 and unique visitors are closed to 100 everyday. Bear in mind that this blog is just nearly five months old.

Having a contest in your blog is like spending for your blog’s advertisement – only better! Although some may find blog contests popping up out of nowhere to be annoying, you wouldn’t refute the fact that blog contests brings a lot of good deals into your blog. You would be surprised how many of these good things are.

Now you’ve learned from me that blog contests are rocks, do not immediately jump into having a blog contest until you finish reading this case study series. Blog contests are not an overnight thing. Blog contest requires a lot of research and planning, so if you want to host one, why not make it rock!

This is just an introduction of how great blog contests are, in the next posts, I’ll guide you step by step on organizing a blog contest. What contest mechanics to have? How to get sponsors to your contest, what prizes to give? And much more…

Blog contest steps I will discuss

  1. Setting your goal
  2. Setting your budget
  3. Contest mechanics
  4. Declaring the winner

Make sure you subscribe to email feed of this blog to be updated in this case study series. Maybe you will get a lot more benefits in organizing your own than me. Increase RSS subscribers to 1,000+ (dream big!), huge traffic and make more money out of it

I’m looking forward to hearing your final analysis of how successful this whole thing is. I started thinking about contests a little while ago myself. Right now I’m just searching for contests to sponsor. I’ve seen how those types of contests can go viral and suddenly people have posted links up everywhere.

I’m not ready to start a contest myself, and I’m not sure that my blog will ever do so.

I like the fact that having a contest is like advertising - only better.

But what should be the typical rewards? What did you offer as incentives or rewards? A listing of that would be very helpful indeed.
