Blog promotion is a must specially for beginner bloggers or blogs that are new. If you want to monetize your blog, you need viewers. But traffic does not automatically mean an increase in income. Just to let you know.

I’ve compiled a list that you could do of blog promotion for free. If you are just starting out, promoting your blog is very very important. Do not expect people could just find your blog without any efforts from you.

1. Entrecard and the likes of it – Entrecard is like your online calling card wherein you will drop your cards in the blogs where there are entrecard widgets. The nice thing to do is not just to drop your card, but also make a comment in the blog and let them know that you appreciate what they wrote. Entrecard is now a growing community and this gives you a great opportunity to meet bloggers with the same interest. The downside however in this blog promotion is that it gives you a huge bounce rate because some entrecarders just drop their cards and leave even before your blog finish loading.
2. Comment (with substance) or interact with other bloggers with the same niche – it is rude to just visit a site then comment just to promote your website. Comments also give you free backlink to your website. Besides, if you made an impressive comment, other visitors might take interest on the person who made that comment.
3. Answer sites – This could be yahoo answers, Answerbag or any other “answer” sites. Find questions wherein your blog as answers to it. This is free blog promotion and you’ll get your target visitors.
4. Search engines – Submit your sites in popular search engines especially google and yahoo. Most importantly, optimize your blog so that the search engines would index you with your target keywords. This is not a blog promotion, but more of leading the viewers into your blog
5. Sponsoring a contest – Sponsoring a contest will give you lots and lots of backlinks to your site. Very simple
6. Holding a contest of your own – Wow, holding your own blog contest has many benefits in your website. This blog promotion technique could increase your feed subscribers and get a lot of backlinks in order to promote your blog. A blog should hold a contest every once in a while to keep your blog alive and interesting.
